Listening, Learning, and Shaping: Co-Designing a Pan-European Research Infrastructure for Citizen Science in Health

📢 As part of the Citizen Science for Health 2025 Conference, which will be held on November 7, 2025, at ETH Zurich, the RIECS-Concept project invites participants to join the Solution Room “Listening, Learning, and Shaping” – an interactive session dedicated to co-designing the future of citizen science in health across Europe. The Solution Room is co-organised by:
✳️Rosy Mondardini, Citizen Science Centre Zurich – Director of Research.
✳️Wu Kai-Ti, European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) – Strategic Tech Development and Fundraising Officer.
✳️Fermín Serrano, Ibercivis – RIECS-Concept Project Coordinator.
✳️Karen Soacha, ICM-CSIC (RIECS-Concept Project WP2 Feasibility research and Conceptualisation Leader).
📌 The workshop will bring together researchers, citizen science practitioners, policymakers, health professionals, and patient organisations to collaboratively develop user stories that inform the technical, organisational, and governance foundations of a European Research Infrastructure for Citizen Science (RIECS-Concept)

What to Expect
Through structured dialogue and co-creation, participants will explore three key questions shaping the future of citizen science in health:
✳️ What services and tools are needed to support citizen science in health?
✳️ How can data governance ensure FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and ethical data practices that enhance public trust?
✳️ What strategies can enable long-term sustainability and measurable impact across sectors?
✨ This hands-on session will allow participants to contribute directly to shaping an inclusive, ethical, and sustainable research infrastructure – one that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of its diverse stakeholders ✨
