Shaping Tomorrow’s Citizen Science Research Infrastructure in Germany: A Co-Design Experience

✳️ At this year’s PartWiss 25 Conference in Leipzig, Leipziger KUBUS, Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung – UFZ, 13 November 2025, 16:00–17:30 CET, the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) will host an interactive workshop titled “Shaping Tomorrow’s Citizen Science Research Infrastructure in Germany: A Co-Design Experience”.
✳️ The session invites participants to actively engage in defining what a research infrastructure for citizen and participatory science should look like in Germany – and how it can connect to broader European efforts. Together, participants will explore both technical and non-technical needs that are key to building sustainable collaboration systems: from data platforms and databases to training opportunities, networking, and community support.
📌 Through a co-design approach, attendees will develop user stories that capture real-world needs and challenges faced by citizen science practitioners and researchers. The insights gathered will directly contribute to the RIECS-Concept project, which aims to design a pan-European infrastructure that fosters excellent, open, and collaborative citizen science.

Who Should Attend
✳️ This workshop is designed for:
✅ Researchers and scientists engaged in participatory or citizen science projects.
✅ Citizens and community members interested in shaping how citizen science is supported at national and European levels.
✨ Whether you are working on local engagement, data collection platforms, or cross-border collaboration, your perspective is essential in defining the future of citizen science infrastructure. ✨
