METHODOLOGY
RIECS-Concept is divided into two phases.
The first phase focusses more on the technical elements and it addresses a fundamental question: “What type of services, resources, and/or functionalities should it provide to genuinely benefit our SHs and achieve excellence in Citizen Science?”.
The second phase goes a step further, refining the initial draft of services, resources, and functionalities, while also incorporating new technical (data and metadata) and non-technical aspects. In this second stage, we consider the practical requirements for bringing RIECS to life, including governance, financial sustainability, collaborations, and the essential support from key SHs. In the same vein, RIECS-Concept will develop an impact assessment framework to estimate the potential impacts this infrastructure might have across different levels.
The methodological process
(1) an initial desk and primary research;
(2) engage SHs in the form of online and offline participatory activities, which will provide us needs of participants;
(3) analysis of the user stories and synthesis of all findings into a roadmap that will guide the future design of a RIECS; and (4) evaluation and impact assessment of the activities performed.
The format of the workshops conducted in phase 2 mirrors that of phase 1, with the exception of the CS Stakeholder Summit, where all stakeholders will meet in a unified event.
